Diskopolitan 2016 >> Facebook Event
we are glad to present the second chapter of
A PRE-DIGITAL JOURNEY OF UNDERGROUND LONDON FROM 1980 TO 1998
THROUGH THE EYES OF JEFFREY HINTON’S PERSONAL ARCHIVE.
This week featuring:
- PRINCESS JULIA
- LADY STRETCH
From the 1970’s do it yourself punk attitude into the 1980’s art and fashion squats of London came an energised and creative group of people including: Leigh Bowery, Trojan, John Maybury, David Holah and Stevie Stewart (Body Map), Stephen Jones, Princess Julia, Jeremy Healy, Marilyn, Rachael Auburn, John Moore, Judy Blame, Michael Clark, Scarlett, Jimmy Fox, Philip Salon, Cerith Wyn Evans, Derek Jarman, Michael and Gerlinde Costiff, Boy George, etc.
Along with these close and collaborative friends Jeffrey Hinton was very involved in the many club and events they created. All usually just for there own fun and predominantly out of view of the general public.
Although this time was tragically devastated by Aids, this unique collection of people has continued to influence music, fashion and club culture through to it’s present “digital age”.
Always documenting his world from the inside, Jeffrey Hinton has put together a collection of special moments from his video and picture collections for this exhibition.
Featuring the clubs, events and getting ready for:
Cha Cha, Heaven, Taboo. Daisy Chain, Le Kilt, Mud Club, Le beat rout, Kinky Gerlinky, Queer Nation, Substation, ff, Dtpm, Trade, Body Map, Michael Clark, Alternative Miss World, Neo Naturists, Gay Pride, Drag and Alternative Performance, etc.
